Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, among others, has yesterday announced non-fungible tokens (NFTs) expand even further on Instagram. The feature to display the digital collectibles is now available in 100 countries. In addition, the company announced that it would support Flow blockchain, after which the FLOW price rose sharply!
Meta adds NFTs to Instagram
Meta has been testing NFTs on Instagram for a long time. In May this year, it announced the start of these tests. A small group of users were able to test the unique digital tokens within their feed, stories and messages. Now this test is being expanded considerably, Meta announces:
“Today, we begin international expansion to 100 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas.”
Europe, and therefore we Dutch, unfortunately have to wait a little longer until that happens. In addition to expanding the pool of users who can now test the feature, Meta also announced support for the Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet. In addition to these two wallets, users can also connect their Instagram account to Rainbow, MetaMask and Trust Wallet to display their NFTs.
Flow added to list with Ethereum and Polygon
The announcement also states that the social media company has added a new blockchain. Previously, it was already possible to verify NFTs based on Ethereum (ETH) and Polygon (MATIC) on Instagram, now Flow (FLOW) has been added. The price of FLOW reacted positively to the addition.
Shortly after the news, the price shot up and at the time of writing, FLOW is more than 43% in the plus compared to 24 hours ago. FLOW is now worth $2.68, the highest level since the end of May but still 94% below all time high (ATH) from $46.
